Camalo Gaskin

Camalo Gaskin formally introduced the role of the doula to the German Parliament after 15 years of accompanying critical and extraordinary experiences of human birth in clinical and home environments. She has been an acclaimed speaker and lecturer on topics of bio social aspects of human birth, states of perception and body-mind pain modulation. Her broad experience with human limits, abilities and innate capacities has led to extensive studies of fascia, presence, and the science of movement. She has been invited to guide processions for political actors and public arts audiences, respectively exploring our adaptive capacities for high pressure and visibility; and opening our collective senses to the sensual terrain of the built environment. She has taught and mentored hundreds of professional and lay practitioners in the fields of birth and loss companionship, developing insights into the complex fascia systems, awe experiences, and perceptual education.
